Tasteful from start to finish, our informative day leaves you feeling awash with admiration for this deserving gem of an island. Delight your senses with rare animals, lush green plants, convict history, colonial architecture, arts, crafts, premium produce, incredible scenery and friendly Tasmanian culture. This tour has it all!

INCREDIBLE VIEWS

INCREDIBLE VIEWS

We drive to the top of the mountain that towers over Hobart city. The views are incredible from up here and I'm always left with feelings of gratitude.

TASMANIAN DEVIL

TASMANIAN DEVIL

One of our most unique icons, the Devil is a carnivorous animal with jaw strength about 10 times a pit bull dog. With incredible sense of smell, the devil can smell their food from kilometers away. This animal is a scavenger - not a fierce attacker.

CONVICT THEATRE

CONVICT THEATRE

A fascinating component of Tasmania is its convict history. The female prison comes vividly alive through talented actors depicting the shocking events that happened inside these sandstone walls. Journey into 1832 and convict Mary James, walk with actors in full costume and watch her exceptional story unfold in the harsh Female Factory conditions.

AUSTRALIA'S OLDEST BRIDGE

AUSTRALIA'S OLDEST BRIDGE

This is the oldest bridge in Australia. Convicts would carve blocks from the sandstone quarry nearby and transport it via convict drawn carts to the here. This was your punishment for being hungry and stealing a loaf of bread to feed yourself.

TASTY SAMPLES

TASTY SAMPLES

Whilst at Richmond, you're free to stroll around and visit the local produce stores. There's plenty of samples to try. Look out for honey and also scallop pies.

HISTORIC RICHMOND

HISTORIC RICHMOND

Stopping at this historic town for a lunch break provides us with a history lesson or two. There's convict carved sandstone everywhere, an old gaol (disused) and Australia's oldest church. It used to take a day to arrive here from Hobart (by horse and cart) but now it only takes 30mins by car. Eat at your leisure and explore at your own pace – there's plenty of boutique galleries and craft shops.

ARTS & CRAFTS

ARTS & CRAFTS

Home to some of the largest trees in the world and Australia's tallest known tree, the species Eucalyptus Regnans consistently grows between 80 - 100m size (300ft). There's many other timbers that grow and Huon Pine is highly sought after for boat building. Richmond stores have a good supply of timber arts and crafts stores that you can peruse.

NATIVE ANIMALS

NATIVE ANIMALS

We get up close and personal with plenty of animals on this tour. Bonorong Park provides you with a guided tour of their animals - Koala, wombat, Tasmanian devil and more. You can hand feed the Kangaroo and touch the emu if you're lucky.

THE WOMBAT

THE WOMBAT

This cute and cuddly little animal (although it does grow to nearly a meter in length) lives underground in burrows. It's a master underground builder and has an incredibly strong head - used for protection when its life is threatened. You'll most likely meet one at Bonorong Park when we're there.

MT WELLINGTON

MT WELLINGTON

The mountain gets snow on it at any time of year so bring warm clothes - It's amazing to go from sea level to the top of a mountain in about 30mins. The environment is completely different up there and the views are spectacular.

TASMANIAN ABORIGINALS

TASMANIAN ABORIGINALS

It's a heart wrenching story about the Tasmanian Aborigines. As a white Tasmanian, it's embarrassing for me to say they were driven to extinction by white settlers. We pay respect to the traditional custodians of this land.

CASCADE BREWERY & GARDENS

CASCADE BREWERY & GARDENS

If time permits, a quick stop at Cascade Brewery and gardens to sample some fine beers and beverages. This is Australia's oldest brewery and originally used the fresh water that runs off the mountain behind.

SALAMANCA MARKET

SALAMANCA MARKET

On Saturdays, we make a quick stop at Australia's largest outdoor market. You'll see lots of unique arts, crafts, products and taste great flavours too.
