Tasmania Wine Tour
Our unique Tasmania Wine Tour begins with a short 15 minute drive east of Hobart to the Coal River Valley wine region. It’s a short but scenic journey and it gives us just enough time to get relaxed.
Our first stop includes wines from the labels of Frogmore Creek, Forty Two Degrees South, Storm Bay and Meadowbank Estate. Frogmore Creek features a beautiful restaurant, gift shop, the history of Tasmanian wine in art, and breathtaking views across the vineyards to Barilla Bay. Wine highlights include Frogmore Creek Evermore Cuvee sparkling and 42⁰ South Pinot Noir.

Puddleduck features a range of beautifully handcrafted wines grown and made on site by the dynamic husband and wife duo, Darren and Jackie Brown. Puddleduck cellar door has a wonderfully relaxed tasting area overlooking there ‘duck pond’ and a wide range of duck related gifts. Platters of locally made cheese are an option to enjoy with their beautiful wines. Wine highlights include Bubbleduck and Muddleduck sparkling wines and two Puddleduck Pinot Noirs.
Next stop on our Tasmania Wine Tour is the Wicked Cheese factory to taste their range of soft mould ripened cheeses and cheddar cheeses, featuring Tasmanian Pepperberry and Tasmanian Single Malt Whiskey flavoured cheddars. Wicked Cheese has a well stocked larder featuring a wide range of Tasmanian gourmet food products in addition to their own cheeses. Wicked Cheese has a Café serving delicious platters of gourmet Tasmanian products for lunch.
The next vineyard we visit on our tour is Pooley Wines, located at Belmont House on the outskirts of the historic convict built town of Richmond. Pooley Wines are made by Matt and Anna Pooley, both award winning wine makers and third generation Pooley family members to be involved in this very successful enterprise. Wine highlights include a series of Riesling wines and several single site Pinot Noirs.
While in Richmond we can visit the historic Richmond Bridge built in 1823, have a scallop pie at Richmond bakery and shop for handcrafted Tasmanian gifts if time permits.
Next stop on our tour is Domaine A, home to Domaine A Cabernet Sauvignon – one of two Tasmanian wines in Langton’s Top 100 classification of Australian Wines. There are three labels produced here, Stoney Vineyard, Domaine A and the new Petite A label. All wines are meticulously grown and hand crafted by owner/winemaker Peter Althaus.
N.B. Domaine A is open for tastings Monday-Friday only. It’s also possible for us to visit Stefano Lubiana on Sundays.
We complete our Tasmania wine tour with a visit to Moorilla Estate in the Derwent valley, Tasmania’s second oldest vineyard. Highlights here include a tour of the new state of the art winery, and tastings in the spectacular tasting area adjacent to the Source restaurant. Tastings of Moo Brew beers from the micro brewery on site are an additional option.

Depart: 9:45am (Hotel pick-up).
Return: 5:30pm (Hotel drop-off).
Includes: Wine tasting fee for each vineyard. Cheese platter at Wicked Cheese.
